Going by the statistics, of the 130 movies released in the year 2009, (compared to the 200 movies released in 2008) only 12 were hits at the Box Office. Of the 105 movies dubbed only 10 are stated to have done well.According to the Telugu Film Producers’ Council, the drastic fall in the number of successful movies had a terrible impact on the Telugu film Industry -- from producers to exhibitors -- and all of them had incurred huge losses. At the moment, things are not looking up for the Telugu Film Industry and the producers and Tollywood fraternity are at the crossroads keeping their fingers crossed.
The news that Telangana Jagruti Samiti led by MS Kavita , daughter of TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has withdrawn their agitation against the screening of films involving those actors and producers who are either directly or indirectly associated with a united Andhra Pradesh is a welcome sign.Meanwhile, it is reported that the Bharateeya Janata Party is concerned about threats from various political parties to the Tollywood fraternity.
