Suhasini Comments On Present Day Heroines

Suhasini Unhappy With New Generation Heroines

Suhasini Maniratnam is an eye witness to visually discern the dynamic trends in film making and also in the varying of talents in artists coming in and going out generation by generation. She is indeed proud for belonging to 1970 and 1980s, an era where heroines are very talented with wide exposure on how to portray their characters in women oriented stories and scripts. However, present times have changed and heroines are merely seen as meaty glamour babes restricted to songs and spice.

‘There were actresses like Radhika, Revathi, Saritha and myself who feel very lucky for present in 1980s. It’s our good fortunes, we were offered really good characters but now, actresses are just used as props. As per my observation, Bollywood is betterly placed than South cinema because heroines like Vidya Balan, Kangna Ranaut are enjoying strong characters and superb recognition. In South, the situation has deteriorated and Hindi films are far better than ours. I also think, new girls coming here are finding an easy way out and aren’t really keen, interested to demand strong roles.

Anyways, film industry is male dominated here and there but that doesn’t matter until the time actresses are given due respect in performance terms by giving them author backed roles,’ Suhasini commented recently at a film function. Well, no cross questions on this… we can never get the quality of our 1980 heroines back in present times because remuneration and extra comforts matter the most for us here. Will anyone of our so called current star heroines have courage to take an argument with Suhasini? No way...
