Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s day dream of enticing the Telugu cinema industry for a shift to Visakhapatnam isn’t getting any positive reactions from Tollywood rulers. Traditionally, our film industry is dominated by people from Seemandhra regions. As and when the separate Telangana statehood is achieved, there is a growing demand for special recognition to Telangana based artists and technicians.
This could lead to unrest anytime in near future and Naidu was planning to cash on the chaos. However the newly elected president of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, Daggubati Suresh Babu has poured waters on Naidu dream.
‘I can see many difficulties in shifting the base from Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh now. It is just impossible. I don’t think any step in this regards can be taken at least till the time new capital is built to satisfaction. Movement of Telugu cinema industry from Chennai to Hyderabad is still incomplete. We still depend upon Chennai dance troupes for shooting our songs. So, how can we think of relocating again?
Rather Andhra Pradesh Government has many more issues to address. They have to develop adequate infrastructure at first before forwarding any proposal to film industry. I also personally feel none from our film industry is ready to make investments in Andhra Pradesh. One or a half studio might rise up in Sri City, Nellore. Nothing more than this could happen,’ Suresh Babu spoke his mind out very clearly.
