Personal vendettas are common in film circles where a victory in the form of a hit or super hit will only decide who won and who lost the game. Most successful film maker Maruthi of ‘Ee Rojullo, Bus Stop’ and ‘Prema Katha Chithram’ fame revealed on one of his challenges with an established director which raised the burning ambition in him to become a director.
‘One of the directors for whom I worked as an assistant had a very cheap look at me. I challenged him to make a hit film with budget of just 5o Lakhs and then I proved it with ‘Ee Rojullo.’ Later on, I also made him learn the real definition of Direction by showing his mistakes. The fire you see in me is because of that director who taught me how a movie must not be made,’ Maruthi explained. Well, keep guessing…who the targeted director was?
