How can a film like ‘Eega’ be connected to Politics and sentiments of Telangana? But, surely Tollywood is learning to respect Telangana and its heritage. Of course, TRS leader KCR, TJF leader Kavitha and entire Telangana must be happy about the audio function of ‘Eega’ and here is the reason of ‘Oggu Katha’ by Venu and Thaagubothu Ramesh.
‘Oggu Katha’ is ancient art form of Telangana with a thick accent of Veera Shaivam popularized in last generation by Midde Ramulu. This format was taken up at audio function to narrate the introduction of artists and technicians of ‘Eega’ which evoked good response. Even in one of game shows on a television channel, ‘Oggu Katha’ has come in and if some of the recent developments are keenly observed, representation from Telangana region has increased…well is it conscious or otherwise is not known. Earlier, this part of Andhra Pradesh came under ridicule and there was an attack on cultural ethos. Now things seem to be changing drastically. Even heroes from Telangana like Nitin grabbing a big hit ‘Ishq’ is a welcome sign.
