Malayalam film director Khalid Rahman, known for his popular films Thallumaala and Alappuzha Gymkhana, Gymkhana in Telugu, has been arrested for possession of hybrid ganja in Kerala. The director was arrested along with two other men, Ashraf Hamza and Shalif Mohammed, in a late-night raid at a Kochi apartment. The excise officials seized 1.63g of hybrid ganja from them and released them on station bail.
The excise officials received confidential tips about the possession of ganja in the apartment, which is owned by a well-known cinematographer. The officials raided the flat around 2 am on Sunday and took the three into custody. A case has been registered against them under sections 20(b) (II) A and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The officials suspect that the three are regular drug users and are investigating the source of the hybrid ganja.
