Director Karthik Subbaraj is busy promoting his upcoming film Retro, which is set to release next week. In a recent interview, Karthik revealed that he initially wrote the script for Retro with none other than the legendary actor Rajinikanth in mind. Karthik shared that the script had more action and mass moments when he wrote it for Rajinikanth, but as he developed the story, he realized it was more of a love story. That's when Suriya came on board, and the script was altered to suit his style.
Karthik explained that when Suriya read the first draft of the script, he accurately guessed that it was written for Rajinikanth. Karthik then made changes to the protagonist's character, making him more vulnerable while still retaining heroic action sequences. The film has been crafted to showcase Suriya's versatility, and fans are eagerly waiting to see how he brings this character to life. Retro boasts an impressive cast, including Pooja Hegde, Joju George, and Jayaram, among others.
Karthik also opened up about the speculations surrounding his involvement in actor Vijay's final film. He revealed that he had indeed narrated a script to Vijay, but things didn't materialize due to his self-proclaimed lack of narration skills. By the time he could put together a script, Vijay had already decided to collaborate with H Vinoth.
Retro is set to hit theaters on May 1, promising an exciting cinematic experience with its engaging storyline, impressive cast, and technical brilliance. With music composer Santhosh Narayanan, cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna and Editor Shafique Mohamed Ali on board, the film is expected to be a visual treat. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Suriya shine in this new role.
