There has been a longstanding discussion on the films and reviews and the performance of the films vis a vis the reviews and their impact at the box office. Whenever the filmmakers, filmstars and producers see positive reviews they are fine with them and even use those reviews to promote their films and claim that their films turned out to be blockbusters getting unanimous talk.
However, when they get negative reviews, they go hammer and tongs on the reviews and reviewers and call for the ban on reviews for the first one week or so. This is something like political parties claiming victory in the elections and heaping praises on EVMs and Election Commission when they win and blame them and call them corrupt or tampered when they bite the dust.
However it is really silly and funny that few in the film industry are trying to put curbs on reviews without realising the fact that collections will not increase if the content is not strong. They are turning a blind eye even though they know very well that one cannot stop a good film with a bad review and vice versa.
The concept of reviews didnot originate recently and it has been exisiting since many decades and now with the advent of social media, websties, youtube channels and others increased. One can prevent reviews from appearing in the print and electronic media and also request few websites and youtube channels not to come up with the reviews. However, one cannot stop people from commenting on their whatsapp groups about the films. There is no law which says that reviews are unlawful and illegal. .
The question is who will be held responsible if one complains about the quality of the restaurant etc. So when a person pays for the ticket and watch the film, he has every right to express his opinion freely and without any fear. Many people didnot like Pushpa, Baahubali, Animal, Arjun Reddy and others. But the films turned out tobe blockbusters.
But some loved Robinhood, Liger and others but they disappeared without a trace. So even paid positive reviews and favourable promotions will not help if the content is not good.
