Saif Ali Khan Begins Shooting For Film Based On India's First General Election

Saif Next Based On India First Election

Actor Saif Ali Khan will begin shooting for a period drama directed by Rahul Dholakia this week, after promoting his upcoming film, Jewel Thief. This will be Khan's first project since the January 2025 home invasion incident. The yet-to-be-titled film chronicles India's first general election and stars Saif as Sukumar Sen, India's first Chief Election Commissioner, alongside Pratik Gandhi and Deepak Dobriyal.

The film will showcase Sen's role in orchestrating India's first general election, conducted between October 1951 and February 1952. The production design team will build massive sets depicting India of the 1950s, highlighting the period's significance in the storytelling. The unit will shoot across different locations in the city over the next few weeks, with the goal of completing a chunk of the drama by May-end.

Before starting work on Dholakia's film, Saif will be seen in Jewel Thief, a heist thriller where he plays master thief Rehan Roy. The film also features Jaideep Ahlawat, Kunal Kapoor, and Nikita Dutta in key roles and premieres on Netflix soon. Saif Ali Khan's return to filmmaking is highly anticipated, and fans are eagerly awaiting his performances in both Jewel Thief and the upcoming period drama.
