A massive fire broke out on the set of actor Dhanush's upcoming directorial "Idly Kadai" in Anupapatti village near Andipatti in Tamil Nadu's Theni district on Saturday. Fortunately, no one was injured as the filming had been stopped temporarily at the spot. The grand set, which had a street lined with shops and houses, had stayed untouched since filming was moved to a new location a few days ago.
The fire was fuelled by strong winds and flammable materials used in the set's construction which was quickly noticed by local residents. They alerted the Andipatti Fire Department, prompting fire fighters and local police to rush to the scene. The fire fighters bravely battled the flames for over an hour. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The incident has raised concerns about the safety measures in place for film shoots.
"Idly Kadai" marks Dhanush's fourth directorial venture, featuring Nithya Menen as the female lead, along with Arun Vijay, Rajkiran, and Samuthirakani. The film is slated to hit theaters on October 1. The project brings together a talented team, including GV Prakash Kumar, Kiran Koushik, Prasanna GK, and Jacki.
The film is being jointly produced by Dawn Pictures, Red Giant Movies, and Wunderbar Films. Dhanush and Aakash Baskaran are the producers, while Sreyas Srinivasan is the executive producer. With the investigation underway, the team is working to rebuild and move forward with the project.
