Mohanlal's latest film, Empuraan, Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran is breaking records at the box office. The film has collected a whopping Rs 175 crore gross worldwide on its opening weekend, beating Chhaava's record of Rs 155 crore. Empuraan has become the biggest weekend opener for Indian cinema this year, not only in India but also overseas. The film's overseas collection alone has crossed Rs 108 crore, making it the biggest overseas grosser of this year.

The film's success can be attributed to its wide appeal, with Kerala collections standing at Rs 42 crore, ROI at Rs 25 crore, and overseas at Rs 108 crore. Within just four days, Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran's worldwide gross has reached Rs 175 crore, making it the all-time second-biggest grosser for Malayalam cinema. The movie is only behind Manjummel Boys and is expected to become the industry hit by this week.

In its five-day festival weekend, Empuraan has created a rampage at the box office with collections exceeding Rs 200 crore. The action thriller has set a new benchmark for Malayalam cinema, turning everyone's heads towards Mollywood. Empuraan has become the all-time second-highest grosser in Malayalam cinema within just five days and is all set to become the new industry hit within this week.

In the Middle East, Empuraan has collected a whopping Rs 67 crore in five days, while Kerala collections stand at Rs 53 crore. The film is on track to break Baahubali 2's record in the region, which has stood for years. With a decent hold, Empuraan is expected to break Baahubali 2's closing collections in the coming days, cementing its place as one of the biggest hits in Malayalam cinema.
