Kannada actor Shivarajkumar, who recently underwent surgery to remove and replace a cancerous bladder, has been open about his treatment and post-operative care. The actor, also known as Century Star, first addressed his health concern in August last year, revealing that he was undergoing treatment. Although rumors swirled about him having cancer, Shivarajkumar only confirmed it later, stating that he was undergoing chemotherapy. After undergoing surgery in Miami and returning to India, Shivarajkumar and his wife Geetha began to openly discuss his cancer journey.
Shivarajkumar has now confirmed that his cancer journey will be released as a documentary. During an interaction with Tv9 Kannada, the actor revealed that his doctors in the US advised him to document his treatment, including the surgery and post-operative care. The documentary aims to raise awareness about cancer, instill hope, and alleviate fears in the minds of people. Shivarajkumar's troubles began in March or April 2024, when he noticed discoloration in his urine during a visit to Mookambika. Upon returning to Bengaluru, he underwent a couple of surgeries to tackle the initial issue.
The actor's cancer journey has been a long and challenging one. After the initial surgeries, the cancer spread to the muscle of his bladder, requiring further intervention, including chemotherapy and surgery to remove the affected organ. In Miami, the doctors removed the bladder and created a new one from portions of his small intestine, called a neo-bladder. Shivarajkumar, who was discharged five days after his surgery, will give audiences a glimpse into how he managed to recover and adapt to his new reality.
Through the documentary, Shivarajkumar will share his experiences, including how he managed to go for walks in and around the hotel they stayed in, despite having several tubes and pouches for a couple of weeks after his surgery. The documentary promises to be a powerful and moving portrayal of Shivarajkumar's cancer journey, offering a glimpse into his recovery and new reality. By sharing his story, Shivarajkumar hopes to raise awareness about cancer, reduce stigma, and inspire hope in those who are going through similar experiences.
