Ashwath Marimuthu on Dragon vs Don. Dragon directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and starring director turned actor Pradeep Ranganathan is one of the most anticipated films of 2025. The recent release of the film trailer has drawn comparisons to Sivakarthikeyan Don as both films feature a mischievous college student who ultimately achieves success in life. However director Ashwath Marimuthu has dismissed these comparisons assuring audiences that Dragon is not Don 2.
Director Ashwath Marimuthu stated It has been two years since Don was released. Why would anyone remake the film That too within two years. I directed Oh My Kadavule which was loved by audiences and Pradeep Ranganathan directed and acted in a successful film called Love Today. Why would we come together to make Don 2.
He continued Since our film has a college backdrop vibrant visuals and many students it might look similar to Don. However my story is different. Don is about a student who succeeds in life but Dragon is not that. There is a huge surprise in our film which we have hidden from the trailer. Once the film is released people will share different opinions.
Ashwath concluded by saying Just like how Oh My Kadavule was unique Dragon will also be unique. My next film with Simbu is also a different and original subject.
Dragon produced by AGS Entertainment on a substantial budget of Rs.37 crore stars Pradeep Ranganathan Anupama Parameswaran and Kayadu Lohar in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes Mysskin KS Ravikumar Gautham Menon VJ Siddhu and Harshath Khan.
