Dispute Over Nayanthara Documentary Takes a New Turn

Madras HC Dismisses Netflix Petition

The Madras High Court has dismissed Netflix's petition regarding the documentary "Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale". This development is the latest in the ongoing dispute between Nayanthara and Dhanush over the documentary. Dhanush had approached the court in November last year, alleging that a three-second clipping from the movie "Nenu Rowdy Ne" was used without permission in the documentary.

The documentary, which is currently streaming on OTT, features interesting facts about Nayanthara's marriage and her journey. However, Dhanush sent legal notices to Nayanthara's team demanding Rs 10 crore as compensation for not allowing the clipping to be used in the documentary. Nayanthara responded with a long letter, severely criticizing Dhanush. This led to Dhanush approaching the High Court, which eventually led to Netflix India filing a petition to reject Dhanush's copyright claim.

The court's decision to dismiss Netflix's petition has added a new twist to the ongoing feud between Dhanush and Nayanthara. The dispute began when Dhanush denied permission to use footage from the movie "Naanum Rowdy Dhaan" in Nayanthara's documentary. Despite this, the documentary premiered with the footage, leading to Dhanush suing Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan for copyright infringement.
