Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan's next project, a mythic action epic, has been unveiled. Titled "The Odyssey," this IMAX film brings Homer's ancient Greek epic poem to life on the big screen for the first time. Starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron, the film promises an unforgettable cinematic experience.
Scheduled to release on July 17, 2026, "The Odyssey" will be Nolan's follow-up to his Oscar-winning drama "Oppenheimer." Production is expected to commence in the first half of 2025, with Nolan writing and producing alongside Emma Thomas under their Syncopy banner. Homer's timeless classic chronicles Greek hero Odysseus' tumultuous journey home following the Trojan War.
Tom Holland, one of the film's stars, admitted to signing on without knowing many details. "I don't really know what it's about," he shared on "The Dish" podcast. "I met with Chris, and it was awesome." This enthusiasm echoes the excitement surrounding Nolan's projects.
"The Odyssey" joins previous adaptations, including the 1911 silent film, 1954's "Ulysses" starring Kirk Douglas, and 2000's satirical comedy "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Nolan's unique vision and all-star cast promise a captivating retelling of Homer's magnum opus.
