Rumors have been circulating that Silambarasan TR's film with Desingh Periyasamy, announced over 18 months ago, is on the verge of being shelved. However, according to reliable sources in Kodambakkam, the film is still very much alive. Originally produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), the project experienced a setback when RKFI withdrew, but not before receiving a settlement of over 70% of pre-production costs, amounting to Rs 6 crore.
Silambarasan TR has reportedly paid Rs 4 crore from his remuneration for Thug Life and will pay an additional Rs 1 crore soon. Kamal Haasan has waived off Rs 1 crore, given their cordial relationship. The actor is now likely to produce the film himself, impressed by the script and eager to bring it to life.
An industry veteran revealed, "STR has been funding the film's pre-production out of his pocket for months. There's no way the film is dropped. This could be a game-changing film for the Tamil film industry." The project's status as STR's next after Ashwath Marimuthu's film or its immediate kickoff remains uncertain, depending on various factors.
Fans will have to wait for STR's official announcement to confirm the film's status. Despite rumors, it seems "Blood and Battle" is still on track to become a reality.
