Annu Kapoor blasts Shah Rukh Khan for Chak De! India

Annu Kapoor exposes King Khan

Annu Kapoor blasts Shah Rukh Khan for Chak De India. Veteran actor Annu Kapoor has again sparked controversy with his latest comments, alleging that the makers of Shah Rukh Khan's 2007 hit "Chak De! India" deliberately changed the protagonist from a Hindu to a Muslim for a supposed "communal narrative".

Kapoor claims that the film's character, Kabir Khan, was originally based on the real-life coach Mir Ranjan Negi, but was changed to a fictional character for the film. He stated, "The main character in Chak De! India is based on a famous coach, Negi Saab. But in India, they want to show a Muslim as a good character and make fun of a Pandit (Hindu priest). This is something old, where they use the idea of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb (Hindu-Muslim unity) to put a label on it," Kapoor

This statement follows a similar controversial remark by Kapoor just a day prior, where he claimed his "7 Khoon Maaf" co-star Priyanka Chopra was uncomfortable kissing him onscreen because he was not a "mainstream hero."
