Christopher Nolan Next Film To Star Matt Damon

Matt Damon in Christopher Nolan Film

Renowned director Christopher Nolan is reportedly returning to Universal Pictures, the studio behind his Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer, for his upcoming feature film. Deadline sources confirm that Matt Damon is in talks to star in the project, slated for release on July 17, 2026, in IMAX theaters.

Production is expected to begin in early 2025, although plot details remain under wraps, consistent with Nolan's tradition of secrecy. This will be Damon's third collaboration with Nolan, following Interstellar and Oppenheimer. Damon joins Christian Bale and Murphy as actors who have worked with Nolan on at least three occasions.

Nolan's Oppenheimer, released in 2023, was a critical and commercial success, earning $975.6 million internationally and $328.9 million in the US. The film received numerous accolades, including Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), and Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.). Oppenheimer also won five Golden Globes and seven BAFTAs.
