Anushka to propel female centric films

Anushka set to lineup female centric film.Anushka Shetty's Return Sparks Hope for Women-Led Films in Tollywood.

Anushka Shetty's comeback with author-backed roles in "Ghaati" and a potential "Bhaagmathie" sequel has ignited hopes for a resurgence of women-centric films in Tollywood. Her previous successes in "Arundhati" and "Miss Shetty Mister Polishetty" have cemented her position as a crowd-puller, proving her ability to carry a film on her own, a feat rarely seen in the industry.

While other actresses like Kajal Aggarwal and Anjali have attempted similar ventures, they haven't achieved the same box office success. The industry is still struggling to invest heavily in female-led films, as the perception persists that they don't attract large openings.

However, a new generation of actresses is challenging this notion. Rashmika Mandanna's solo-heroine thriller "Rainbow" and Keerthy Suresh's impressive performances in films like "Mahanati" and "Miss India" are signaling a shift towards stronger female characters.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu has already proven her box office pull with hits like "Oh Baby!" and "Yashoda," further solidifying the potential of women-centric films. As producer Lagadapati Sridhar notes, "Samantha has been breathing life into lady-centric movies these days."

Young actress Payal Rajput, whose recent film "Mangalavaram" centered around her character, emphasizes the challenges and rewards of carrying a film on one's shoulders. "Author-backed roles allow us to showcase our versatility," she points out.

Producer-director Abhishek Nama echoes this sentiment, welcoming the rise of new-age actresses taking on female-centric roles. He believes these films will "give a boost to the lady-oriented genre," allowing audiences to witness multifaceted characters and performances that are often limited in star-driven movies.

With Anushka's return and the growing confidence of younger actresses, Tollywood is poised to embrace a new era of strong female leads, opening doors to diverse narratives and empowering women in the industry.
