Madras High Court Opposes Interim Ban Of Rajinikanth Vettaiyan

Madras HC Refuses To Ban Vettaiyan

Rajinikanth's upcoming film "Vettaiyan" has landed in controversy after a petition was filed in the Madurai branch of the Madras High Court, seeking a ban on the movie's release on October 10. The petition, filed by Madurai resident Palanivelu, objects to certain dialogues in the film's trailer that allegedly promote encounter killings. Palanivelu claims these dialogues could influence public perception and lead to the acceptance of illegal encounters.

The film's trailer, which features Rajinikanth as an encounter specialist, has sparked both interest and controversy. The narrative revolves around the protagonist's quest for justice following the rape and murder of a woman, exploring themes of law enforcement and justice. Interestingly, the trailer also hints at a clash of ideologies, with Amitabh Bachchan portraying a character opposed to such extreme methods.

In response to the petition, Justices Subramanian and Victoria Gowri refused to grant an interim ban on the film. Instead, they issued notices to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and Lyca Productions, seeking clarification on the matter. The court has adjourned the hearing, and "Vettaiyan" remains on track for its October release.
