Shankar Next Is Velpari Movie Adaptation

Shankar Is Planning A Multistarrer

Acclaimed filmmaker Shankar is gearing up for a comeback with several promising projects, including the movie adaptation of Su Venkatesan's Tamil novel, Veera Yuga Nayagan Velpari. Although the star cast is yet to be finalized, rumors suggest that Tamil actors Suriya and Chiyaan Vikram may collaborate for the film.

If confirmed, this will mark Suriya's first collaboration with Shankar, while Vikram's involvement would reunite him with the director after nine years, following their 2015 film, I. Notably, both actors previously worked together in Bala's 2003 film, Pithamagan, where Vikram won the National Film Award for Best Actor.

Veera Yuga Nayagan Velpari is a historical period film revolving around a tribal leader's fight against the Cheras, Cholas, and Pandyas. Suriya is expected to play the titular character, Velpari, with Chiyaan Vikram potentially featuring in a pivotal role. Shankar envisions the project as a three-part franchise, with a major announcement anticipated after the release of his upcoming film, Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, slated for December 2024.
