Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon is set to make a powerful return to Telugu cinema, this time showcasing her dramatic prowess in a negative role. The actress, known for her versatility, will be playing a key antagonist in the supernatural thriller "Jatadhara," directed by Venkat Kalyan.

"Raveena Tandon will be a surprise casting in our magnum opus," says director Venkat Kalyan, "She will be seen in an altogether new avatar." He adds, "When I narrated the story to her, she truly liked the concept and her path-breaking role, and agreed to play the role with negative shades."

"Jatadhara" promises a direct conflict between Sudheer Babu and Raveena Tandon, taking the audience on a thrilling ride. This marks Raveena's comeback to Telugu films after nearly a decade, her last appearance being in "Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda."

The director's decision to cast a Bollywood actress in the antagonist role follows the recent trend of Bollywood stars like Sanjay Dutt ("Double iSmart"), Saif Ali Khan ("Devara"), and Bobby Deol (Balakrishna's 109th film) taking on negative roles in Telugu cinema.

"I know big Bollywood stars are doing dark roles in Tollywood. But I had no choice but to reach out to a Bollywood diva due to the requirements of my script," says Kalyan. "No doubt, she will showcase her fiery side and look quite menacing in this new-age thriller which is meant to cater to pan-India viewers."

With Raveena Tandon's powerful performance and the film's intriguing supernatural plot, "Jatadhara" promises to be a compelling addition to Telugu cinema.
