Akshay Kumar, once considered a bankable star with a minimum guarantee of returns, is facing a tough time with consecutive box office failures. His latest film, Khel Khel Mein, co-starring Taapsee Pannu, has struggled to make an impact since its release on Independence Day, managing only Rs 18.35 crore (India Net) in the past week.
The film has faced stiff competition from Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's horror-comedy Stree 2, which has grossed an impressive Rs 274.35 crore in just one week. Khel Khel Mein's box office performance has been underwhelming, with a lackluster opening of Rs 5.05 crore, followed by a decline in collections on Day 2, earning only Rs 2.05 crore.
Despite a relatively stable weekend, with collections of Rs 3.1 crore on Saturday and Rs 3.85 crore on Sunday, the film saw a significant dip on Monday, managing only Rs 2 crore. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Khel Khel Mein boasts an ensemble cast, including Vani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal, and is the Hindi remake of the 2016 Italian film, Perfect Strangers.
As Akshay Kumar navigates this challenging phase, fans and industry insiders alike are eagerly awaiting his next move. With a string of high-profile projects in the pipeline, the actor will be looking to regain his footing and reclaim his position as a bankable star in Bollywood.
