Court Rejects Darshan Plea For Home Food

Court Rejects Darshan Request

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, currently in judicial custody for his alleged involvement in the Renukaswamy murder case, has appealed to the prison authorities to allow him to receive home-cooked food while in jail. He also requested permission for his family to supply him with cutlery, clothing, bedding, and books. However, the court rejected his petition, citing jail regulations that prohibit such facilities for a murder-accused.

Darshan had previously petitioned the Karnataka High Court, which directed him to approach the Magistrate court. In his petition, Darshan claimed that he had lost weight due to being unable to eat and digest the prison food, and had also suffered from diarrhea and food poisoning. Despite his claims, the court denied his request, adhering to the jail's strict regulations.

The Renukaswamy murder case involves Darshan and his associates, who allegedly tortured and murdered a 33-year-old fan who had sent obscene messages to Darshan's friend Pavithra Gowda. According to the post-mortem report, Renukaswamy died from shock and hemorrhage due to multiple blunt injuries. Pavithra Gowda, accused number one, is believed to have instigated the murder and conspired with the other accused.
