Top Tamil producer Gnanavel Raja, known for backing big-budget films like "Kanguva" starring Surya and "Thangalan" with Vikram, has expressed his belief in the recent advancements of South Indian cinema.
In a promotional interview, Gnanavel Raja stated that South cinema is currently ahead of the curve, citing the growing popularity of South Indian films across India and globally. He acknowledged that it may be challenging for the Hindi film industry to reach the same level of quality and audience engagement.
However, Gnanavel Raja also expressed his excitement for the upcoming pan-India project "War 2," starring Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. He believes that such collaborative efforts, bringing together talent from different industries, will boost the enthusiasm of audiences and further fuel the growth of Indian cinema.
He specifically praised Amitabh Bachchan's role in the Telugu film "Kalki," stating that it significantly elevated the film's value and that more such cross-industry collaborations should be explored in the future.
"Kanguva," produced by Gnanavel Raja, is set to release on October 10th in 2D and 3D, in 10 different languages. The film features an ensemble cast including Surya, Jagapathi Babu, Natti Nataraj, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani.
The producer revealed that the sequel, "Kanguva Part 2," is already in the works, with shooting slated to begin by the end of 2025. The sequel is expected to release in the first half of 2027.
Gnanavel Raja also shared that "Kanguva" is currently in post-production and that the film's VFX and graphics are expected to be completed by August. The trailer for the film is expected to be released soon, with rumors suggesting that the first single from the film might drop on July 23rd, Surya's birthday.
