Shruti Haasan Hits Back At A Racist Comment

Strong Retort by Shruti Haasan

Multifaceted Shruti Haasan wears heart on her sleeve. She openly expresses her love and opinion about anything. In a stern response to a racist remark, Shruti Haasan tutored an Instagram user. The actor initiated an 'Ask Me Anything' session on Instagram in which a user asked her to say something in a South Indian accent. 

The question palpably disturbed the actor. She responded, saying, "Ok... So This sort of bs micro racism is not ok And it's not cute when you look at us and say idly dosa sambar either And no you don't imitate us well so don't try and be funny. In a South Indian way I would say மூடிட்டு போடா."

Last seen in Prashanth Neel's Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire, Shruti Haasan also featured in the 'Inimel' video song along with director Lokesh Kanagaraj, sung by her. Up next, she is part of an international film titled Chennai Story. The underproduction film is helmed by BAFTA-nominated director Philip John.

The film, adapted from Timeri N. Murari's bestseller The Arrangements of Love, is set against the backdrop of Chennai. It unfolds a coming-of-age romantic comedy set, where Shruti takes on the pivotal role of Anu, a spunky private detective..Chennai Story marks Shruti's third international outing. She has previously acted in the American TV series Treadstone (2019) as Nira Patel, which is based on the Bourne film series. She has also worked in the British psychological thriller film The Eye.
