Vishwak Sen's highly anticipated action drama "Gangs of Godavari" hit the screens yesterday, much to the anticipation of the actor and his team. However, the film has received a mixed response from critics and audiences, with reviews ranging from negative to lukewarm.
Despite the initial reception, the film's makers have confirmed that a sequel is in the works. The absence of a title reveal in the theatrical release, however, came as a surprise to some. Vishwak Sen, addressing this, explained that the team does not hold the title rights, hence the omission. He assured fans that a separate event will be held to formally announce the sequel and its title.
The upcoming installment will shift the focus to Lankala Rathnam, a central character in the first film, and introduce a new geographical setting. While the cast of the original film, including Anjali and Neha Sshetty, are yet to be confirmed for the sequel, director Krishna Chaitanya and producer Naga Vamsi remain at the helm. The film's musical score is composed by the talented Yuvan Shankar Raja.
With the sequel already confirmed, "Gangs of Godavari" is poised to become a franchise. However, the team will need to address the mixed reception of the first film and deliver a compelling and entertaining sequel to win back audiences. The future of the franchise remains uncertain, but the announcement of a second installment has generated curiosity and anticipation amongst fans.
