Elections Spoilsport For New Films

This summer has been one of the most unproductive summers for Tollywood. No big films got released and May month got even worse, not even notable films were released, leaving theatre owners to shut down their theatres due to lack of films. Many films which were scheduled in May have been pushed to later dates. Half a dozen films are slated to release on May 31st.

Among them, medium range films like Gangs Of Godavari, Harom Hara, Bhaje Vaayu Vegam, Love Me , Gam Gam Ganesha and Satyabhama are on the list. Among them, Sudheer Babu starrer Harom Hara has already moved away to June second week. Earlier, Prabhas starrer Magnum Opus Kalki 2898 AD which was supposed to release on May 9 has already postponed to June 27.

Latest news is that in the wake of violence between TDP and YCP parties post elections, Election Commision and Police have decided to impose 144 section in Andhra Pradesh two days prior to counting on June 4 as well as two after too. If this happens then, everything must be shutdown including theatres. With this latest development, the movies scheduled on May 31 are once again rethinking about their release plans.
