Clashes Between Netflix And Makers Leads To Delay in Lal Salaam OTT Release

OTT Problems For Lal Salaam

Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s recent film, Lal Salaam, which has an extended Cameo of Superstar Rajinikanth failed at the boxoffice. The film which deals with religious issues with a cricket backdrop failed to impress the audience resulting as a flop.  The film, which stars Rajinikanth as Moideen Bhai, was released on February 9 and features music by AR Rahman.

Lal Salaam was supposed to release on Netflix on March 8, but there is no trace of it even after seven weeks of its release. Although the film was praised for its genuine intentions, it fell short of delivering a captivating experience. An early release on OTT platforms could potentially help it reach a broader audience, everyone supposed. According to reports, Netflix has acquired the digital streaming rights for the film, while Sun TV has purchased the satellite rights.

The sports drama, featured Rajinikanth in an extended cameo and Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles. Recently, Director Aishwarya has revealed how they had lost 21 days of footage and had to re-edit some portions. These 21 days footage include a cricket match shot on Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth. Issue arises between makers and Netflix at this missing of footage from the film.

Netflix made a pre-release contract with the makers and acquired 'Lal Salaam' streaming rights. After they came to know about the loss of footage, as per contract they asked makers to reshoot the episode. But, makers went with their own decision editing some scenes and replacing that lost episode with them. Netflix has now stalled the release of the film from steaming on their platform. It is uncertain when will the film see the light.
