Tollywood Beauties Gunning For Mollywood

Telugu Beauties M-wood Temptations

Tollywood Beauties gunning for Mollywood. With Telugu actress Anushka Shetty gearing up for her Malayalam debut in the horror flick 'Kathanar,' it seems that Telugu divas are eager to explore new horizons. Preceding her, Tamannaah ventured into Mollywood with 'Bandra,' followed by Krithi Shetty from 'Uppena' fame, who is set to share screen space with Tovino Thomas in 'Ajayante Randam Moshanam,' and Anjali, who left a mark with her performance in 'Irratta.'

Director Hemanth Madhukar, who collaborated with Anushka Shetty in 'Nishabhdam,' notes that language and regional barriers are no longer significant. He believes that Anushka Shetty might have been enticed by the novelty of the script, leading her to make her Malayalam debut. Despite her larger-than-life image in Telugu cinema, she ventured into Mollywood knowing that her film would also be released in Telugu.

Madhukar acknowledges Anushka Shetty's dedication, mentioning that she stood by the team during 'Nishabdham' for three years, declining other offers until the completion of their film. He emphasizes her professionalism and commitment to the project.

Discussing the trend of actresses like Tamannaah, Krithi Shetty, and Anjali exploring opportunities in Malayalam cinema, Madhukar observes that every actor who values their craft would welcome the chance to work in Malayalam films. He believes that these actresses are drawn to Mollywood for its refreshing stories and the opportunity to showcase their acting prowess in diverse roles.

Madhukar notes that language is no longer a barrier when the content is compelling enough. He cites the example of the Kannada film 'Kantara,' which was well-received despite being in a different language. With the rise of multilingual films, actresses are expanding their horizons and seeking roles that challenge them artistically.

According to Madhukar, Malayalam cinema is currently thriving due to its focus on content. Films like 'Premalu' and 'Majummel Boys' have resonated with non-Malayalam audiences, showcasing the innovative storytelling and exceptional performances that characterize new-age Malayalam cinema. With subtitles making Malayalam films more accessible on OTT platforms, Malayalam cinema is once again in the spotlight, breaking barriers and captivating audiences beyond its borders.
