In a recent interview with Zoom, Kiran shed light on why her ex-husband, Aamir Khan, is not part of the cast of "Laapataa Ladies." She also reflected on the impact of Aamir's previous film, "Laal Singh Chaddha," which faced disappointment at the box office.
Expressing her sentiments, Kiran Rao conveyed the profound disappointment felt by Aamir and the entire team when "Laal Singh Chaddha" failed to resonate with audiences. Recalling the arduous journey of the project, she emphasized how it had been a labor of love for Aamir, spanning years of dedication and effort to bring it to fruition.
"It's really disheartening when you put in all the effort, and it doesn't work, which is what happened with Laal Singh Chaddha," Kiran lamented. "And it definitely affected Aamir quite deeply. It affected all of us because it was a project that had seen so many stages, it had done the Covid-19 rollercoaster."
Reflecting on the journey of "Laal Singh Chaddha," Kiran acknowledged the disappointment surrounding its theatrical release. However, she expressed gratitude for the positive response the film received upon its OTT release, acknowledging the support from audiences on social media.
Despite the setbacks, Kiran emphasized the importance of accepting the audience's verdict and moving forward. "But it did not work, and we do have to accept the fact that the audiences did not like it or did not want to see it," she remarked with a sense of realism.
"Laal Singh Chaddha," a comedy-drama directed by Advait Chandan, is a Hindi remake of the beloved Hollywood classic "Forrest Gump." Alongside Aamir Khan, the film features stellar performances from Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya, and Mona Singh. Following its theatrical release in August 2022, "Laal Singh Chaddha" quietly made its debut on Netflix, marking a new chapter in its journey.
