Ever since the film, 'Malaikottai Vaaliban' was announced in The Complete Actor Mohan Lal and Highly acclaimed Director Lijo Jose Pellissery, the film has hit the marquee of most anticipated films. The much-anticipated trailer of Malaikottai Vaaliban was unveiled by the makers on Thursday. Mohanlal and Lijo Jose Pellissery had carefully guarded details, not even allowing a sneak peek of the actor’s look to be leaked. The mystery began to unravel with the film’s teaser release in December, followed by the release of the film’s first song “Raakk”. Now, the newly released trailer offers a more in-depth look at the film.

Going by the trailer, the film delves into a region’s struggle for freedom against British's colonial rule. It opens with a voice declaring, ‘There is no ecstasy like that of victory. I was lost in mirth, unaware of the treachery hidden in the moment. When you get carried away, you become oblivious to treachery.’ The visuals unfold with a restrained Mohanlal, his hands bound in iron chains between two poles. Scenes depict the British Army confronting innocent civilians with firearms, setting the stage for Mohanlal’s portrayal as the ultimate saviour of the land.

The trailer is impressive with intense slow motion shots and breathtaking aerial shots. It shows the scale and grandeur of the film. It further heightens the anticipation about the film. On Thursday, another new update about the movie was revealed. The film has been awarded a UA certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification and its runtime is confirmed to be 155 minutes. Malaikottai Vaaliban will release in theatres on 25th January, 2024 as republic day special.

Produced by John & Mary Creative, Century Films, and Maxlab & Saregama, Malaikottai Vaaliban is written by P S Rafeeque, a collaborator with Lijo Jose Pellissery on Nayakan and Amen. The film boasts an ensemble cast, including Sonalee Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi, Danish Sait, Manoj Moses, Katha Nandi, and Manikandan Achari. With cinematography by Madhu Neelakandan and music by Prashanth Pillai, the movie is scheduled to hit screens on January 25, 2024.
