Superstar Mahesh and Star Director Trivikram are collaborating for the third time for Guntur Kaaram after Athadu and Khaleja. Athadu became a commercial success and Khaleja though disappointed at the boxoffice attained cult status among movie lovers over the years. Mahesh, Trivikram combination has a special craze among fans, audience and trade circles too. This is the reason why Guntur Kaaram is having high stakes on it.
Another reason is the film is getting released for Sankranthi. It is well known that Pongal is the biggest season for movie business in Telugu states. Films will be of top priority for this Big festival in Telugu states spanning over a week. Even though this time we have four notable releases, Guntur Kaaram is the biggest film among the lot.
Pre-Release Business Of Guntur Kaaram
Guntur Kaaram has registered a record pre-release business for a Sankranti release. The film has done very good pre-release business and even tops all Sankranthi releases so far. The film has procured Rs 105 Crores as theatrical rights from both Telugu states. It includes 42 crores of the Nizam region, 14 crores of the Ceded region, Uttarandhra’s 15 crores, East Godavari’s 9 crores, Guntur’s 8 crores, West Godavari’s 6.5 crores, Krishna region’s 6.5 crores and Nellore’s 4 crores.
Pre-release theatrical business in the rest of India is valued at Rs 10 crores. In the overseas market, where Mahesh is super strong, the theatrical rights are valued at Rs 21 crores. After combining all these numbers, we get a worldwide pre-release theatrical business of 135+ crores. So, the film needs to collect a share of around 140+ crores to term as a Hit. Considering the season of Sankranthi, it would be a cake walk for Mahesh even if it gets a mere positive talk.
