Pic talk: Sonam Kapoor looks ravishing in an ethnic wear

Sonam stuns in a designer wear

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor always makes a statement, especially with her traditional attire. She wants to use her influence as the biggest voice of fashion in India to create awareness about conscious fashion. In her recent post, she fuses history with vintage pieces to style a wedding look for a friend’s ceremony. The actress shared a series of photos with Anand Ahuja from a recent wedding ceremony.

Adorned in a mesmerizing ensemble, the exquisite outfit is a testament to timeless elegance and intricate craftsmanship. Meticulously fashioned from a genuine vintage Banarasi saree, its regality is accentuated by the resplendent gold weave, a reflection of traditional artistry. The surface embroidery, employing antique techniques, narrates a story of bygone eras, adding a rich tapestry of history to the fabric. She wrote, “Wearing this @jigyam jensemble is what Indian textile dreams are made of! it’s my bffs wedding and this was the perfect chance for me to wear a beautiful outfit that was made from actual vintage old banarasee saree with real gold weave with all antique techniques of surface embroidery.”

The ensemble boasts vintage tassels adorned with delicate shells and pearls, a nod to the opulence of yesteryears. The dupatta, a canvas of art, showcases the age-old mochi work from Gujarat, each piece carrying a legacy spanning more than six decades. She continued, “They have added all vintage tassels with shells and pearls and the dupatta is embroidered with vintage mochi workpieces which are over 60 years old and is one of the finest techniques of embroidery from Gujarat.”

Complementing this attire, Sonam donned silver jewellery of genuine antiquity, each piece a treasure collected over time. The payal and bangles, aged gracefully for 80-90 years, echo the charm of a bygone era. “All the silver jewellery are actual antique pieces which have been collected over a period of time and payal and bangles are more then 80-90 years old antique pieces!”

Her husband Anand Ahuja was wearing Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla attire. She wrote, “Anand, on the other hand, is wearing a gorgeous Chikankari from @abujanisandeepkhosla which is a collectable heirloom. Each chikankari piece of theirs takes months to make.”

On the professional front, Sonam has two tent pole projects, one of them being Battle for Bittora. The details of the other project are being kept under wraps currently.
