Sandeep Reddy Vanga, born on December 25, 1981, hails from Warangal and possesses an innate rebellious spirit, much like the locals of the region. He pursued a degree in physiotherapy and further honed his skills in filmmaking during his studies in Australia.
His journey in the film industry began as an apprentice on the set of "Manasu Maata Vinadhu" in 2005 at Rushikonda Beach, Vizag. Sandeep subsequently contributed as an assistant director in Tollywood films like "Kedi" (2010) with Kiran Kumar and "Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju" (2015) with Kranthi Madhav. While originally planning to direct a film titled "Sugar Factory," he redirected his efforts toward crafting the script for "Arjun Reddy."
The scripting process for "Arjun Reddy" commenced in 2013 and concluded two years later. Despite initial interest from producer Swapna Dutt and actor Sharwanand, the collaboration did not materialize. Vijay Deverakonda was introduced to Vanga through a mutual acquaintance and was ultimately cast as the lead in "Arjun Reddy." The film, released on August 25, 2017, received critical acclaim and emerged as a blockbuster, grossing over ₹50 crores despite its modest budget of ₹4–5 crores.
Vanga's directorial journey extended to Bollywood with "Kabir Singh," the Hindi adaptation of "Arjun Reddy," starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. Released on June 21, 2019, the film achieved massive success, crossing ₹379 crores worldwide and joining the coveted 200 crore club.
Following this triumph, Vanga announced his next directorial venture, "Animal," a gangster film featuring Ranbir Kapoor. The movie, produced by T-Series, Bhadrakhali Pictures, and Cine1Studios, garnered substantial box office success.
In January 2021, Vanga unveiled his next project, "Spirit," starring Prabhas, marking the actor's 25th film. This action-drama, produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, was announced in October 2021. Additionally, in March 2023, Vanga disclosed his fifth directorial endeavor, starring Allu Arjun and produced jointly by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures.
Notably, Sandeep Reddy Vanga married Manisha in 2014, and the couple has a son named Arjun Reddy and a daughter. With the remarkable success of "Kabir Singh" and "Animal," Vanga has become one of the most sought-after directors in the industry, solidifying his position as a trailblazer in Indian cinema
