Shruti Haasan thoughts on Salaar violence

Shruti on Salaar violence

Shruti Haasan's thoughts on Salaar violence. While Salaar has garnered immense love from the audience, it hasn't escaped criticism for its perceived excessive violence. Addressing the concerns, Shruti Haasan, who essayed the role of Aadya in the Prabhas starrer, shared her perspective on the violence in the Prashanth Neel directorial during a recent interview. She emphasized the importance of a film's teaser as a disclaimer for viewers.

In her interview with Indian Express, Shruti Haasan, a mental health advocate, acknowledged the diversity in cinema, music, TV shows, and books, some of which depict violence while others do not. She stressed the significance of viewers being cognizant of the content they consume, asserting that a film's teaser serves as a precursor, allowing audiences to gauge whether they are prepared for the depicted content.

"I feel that cinema and music, there are different kinds of TV shows, different kinds of books, some depict violence, some don’t. Yes, I am a mental health advocate, and the biggest thing I would advocate for is knowing what you are watching,” said Shruti.

Highlighting the subjective nature of what may be triggering to different individuals, Shruti argued that a teaser acts as a content disclaimer, enabling viewers to make informed choices based on their preferences and mental states. "That discretion has to lie with the viewer, and that does fall under the ability to judge one’s own mental state of mind. Some people enjoy fast-paced action or thrillers, some people are triggered by emotional drama. So, it’s really up to the viewer’s discretion,” she added.

Salaar: Part 1: Ceasefire, produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, was released on December 22. With a runtime of 2 hours and 55 minutes, the film features Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu in key roles. Notably, the film received an 'A' certificate from the censor board.
