"Abundance in Millets" was conceived in celebration of the 'International Year of the Millets,' a nod to India's standing as a prominent producer of this supergrain. Backed by 72 countries and the United Nations General Assembly, India's proposal led to the song's creation, highlighting the significance of this lesser-known but highly nutritious grain.
Describing millets as small-grained, warm-weather cereals that were historically integral to India's food landscape, the song addresses the grain's decline following the green revolution's emphasis on high-yield wheat and rice. "Abundance in Millets" aims to raise global awareness about this supergrain as a potential solution to world hunger.
Songwriter and singer Falu shared the song on Twitter, underlining its collaborative efforts with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to advocate for millet farming, aiming to combat world hunger. The track, performed by Falu (Falguni Shah) and Gaurav Shah, was composed and written in collaboration with Kenya Autie, Greg Gonzalez, and Soumya Chatterjee. Kenya Autie also took charge of the music video's production.
The accompanying music video beautifully captures the cultivation of millets in India, shedding light on its vital role in addressing global hunger. Moreover, it promotes the consumption of millets, emphasizing their exceptional nutritional value, which significantly contributes to overall health. Interspersed with quotes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the song advocates for incorporating millets into our lifestyles, underscoring the immense benefits for the nation's farmers and the populace.
