K. Raghavendra Rao gets Court Notice. The Telangana High Court recently served notices to veteran film director K. Raghavendra Rao, his brother K. Krishnamohan Rao, and their family regarding a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in 2012.
The PIL challenges the allocation of two acres of land (where RK Cineplex stands) in 1984, situated in Survey No. 403/1 of Banjara Hills, which was initially earmarked for constructing a recording and re-recording theatre at the price of Rs.8,500 per acre.Despite the initial intention for a recording theatre, in 2003, the TDP government permitted the construction of a mini-theatre, a film training institute, and a conference hall.
However, the family developed a commercial complex, prompting a challenge in a 2012 PIL presented before the High Court. The court had previously issued notices last year, which went unacknowledged.
Consequently, a High Court bench, led by Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar, reissued notices and scheduled the matter to be heard in the third week of January.
