In the phase of new age and indie filmmakers who bring fresh ideas to on-screen, Tharun Bhascker stands in the front row. He came with short films background where his several films were quite familiar on YouTube. His short films Anukokunda and Sainma were very popular while his Anukokunda was also screened at Cannes Film Festival. 

Tharun Bhascker made his directorial debut with Pelli Choopulu starring Vijay Deverakonda, Ritu Varma. The film is a love story along with dealing relationships and slice of life elements. The film became a super success and marks a wave of new age filmmakers entering the Telugu Cinema. Pelli Choopulu received National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu, and Tharunnm Bhasckar won Best Screenplay for Dialogues. The film was remade in Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam languages.

He made his second film, Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi which is a buddy comedy. The film deals with a gang of friends and their unexpected trip to Goa to take part in a short film festival. The film attained cult status among the youth audience. It kept growing on audience since it's release. The film got re-released this year and fetched superb response from the audience.

Meanwhile he turned as an actor with Mahanti where he played the role of legendary director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. He became popular with his cop role in Falaknuma Das and also starred as a led in Meeku Maatrame Cheptha produced by Vijay Deverakonda. Now his is busy as actor too. His latest directorial Keeda Cola released on November 3 and is running successfully. He made it as a wacky comedy with unique characterisations.
