Shahid Kapoor Shares His Wife Decision On Kabir Singh

Who inspired Shahid to do Kabir Singh

Shahid Kapoor shares his wife is being Kabir Singh. Shahid Kapoor's 2019 film, Kabir Singh, garnered both heavy criticism and immense success following its release due to its controversial portrayal of misogyny. In a recent interview, Shahid Kapoor disclosed that he had initially hesitated to take on the role of Kabir Singh, and it was his wife, Mira Rajput, who ultimately convinced him to accept the project.

Shahid candidly admitted his initial reservations about the film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. He recollected, "My first response was, 'No way am I doing this movie.' Because this director is a newcomer, and he has done such an outstanding job. When you see someone for the first time on screen, whoever they are, their persona seamlessly merges with the character they portray. Since you don't know them personally, you fully embrace them. It's because it's the first time you've seen them, and everything about them appears flawless because they haven't made any mistakes yet. But then you discover that they're not perfect, that they've made some terrible movies. So, I gave this whole explanation, saying, 'Mira, I shouldn't do this film.'"

Shahid went on to describe Mira Rajput's response, saying, "She just kept gazing at me, and after five minutes, she said, 'Just stop talking and do it. It's the perfect film for you.' I asked her if she was sure, and she replied, 'Yes. People love to see you in love stories, and they love to see you in complex character roles. This film offers both! Just go for it!' Her perspective was refreshingly simple, and I had complicated it unnecessarily for myself. I suppose it's a good thing I decided to do 'Kabir Singh.'"
