Jagapathi Babu is a veteran hero who enjoyed star status during his prime period with superhit family dramas. Now, he is one of the busiest character actors doing versatile roles. His roles in Legend, Srimanthudu, Aravinda Sametha, Rangasthalam, and Nannaku Prematho won accolades and played crucial roles in those film's successes. Recently he did a film titled 'Rudrangi' which didn't do well in theatres.
'Rudrangi' was a period story based on feudalism concept where Jagapathi Babu plays the role of Zamindar in the film. He loved the script and his role. He promoted the film calling it one of the best in his career. However, the film failed at the box office. Mamata Mohan Das played as female lead. The film is directed by Ajay Samrat and produced by Telangana MLA Rasamayi Balakishan.
Speaking to scribes, Jagapathi Babu lashed out at the producer. He said that the result disappointed him. He didn't see commitment in the producer while making the film and even after the film's release, he was least bothered about movie promotions. Such lack of dedication made the film washed away from the theatres within a week.
Jagapathi Babu also said that he has worked for less remuneration for the film as he liked his role. He also suggested to release the film in OTT rather than in theatres. But, the producer didn't pay any heed do his suggestion. Whatever the result is Jagapathi Babu is still stand by his word that 'Rudrangi' is one of his best films. Ashish Gandhi, Vimala Raman and Naveena Reddy played other key roles in the film.
