Suresh Babu Says Tollywood To Stay Apolitical

Suresh Babu About CBN Arrest

Off Late, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest has been discussed widely in both the Telugu states. Many politicians and industrialists, even IT employees expressed their disappointment over his arrest. But, Tollywood didn't commented much about CBN's arrest except for Murali Mohan, K Raghavendra Rao, Ashwini Dutt and KS Rama Rao. Most of them worked as TDP members in the past. So, they were considered as TDP supporters rather than film personalities in this issue.

Today in the press meet of 'Saptha Saagaralu Daati' movie, top producer and studio owner Suresh Babu was asked about Chandrababu’s arrest. He responded diplomatically and handled the question very well. He said that film industry must stay apolitical. In his words Suresh Babu answered,

“As an industry we have always stayed non-political and non-religious body. That is the stand of majority of the leaders of the film industry from the time we were in Chennai till the time we come here to Hyderabad. From the industry we never made the political statements. Many of us may have inclinations personally to political parties, but as a whole industry it is always non-political. Even during the Telangana and Andhra bifurcation, the film industry refrained from making any statements. The film industry is here to make films and we don’t want to make any statements on sensitive and ongoing political issues,” said Suresh Babu.

When Suresh Babu was further asked about Chandra Babu being close to many top Tollywood personalities and did many things for Tollywood, Suresh Babu said,

“I may like a leader and I may not like a leader. It is my personal opinion. But as a film industry as a whole, it is non-political. Even my father Rama Naidu garu was an MP in TDP government and I worked for that party. But, that is personal not related to films in any manner.” added Suresh Babu.

Suresh Babu also said that during Chenna Reddy's regime as CM, Tollywood benifitted the most followed by NT Rama Rao garu in bringing the industry from Chennai to Hyderabad. He said Chandra Babu Naidu too helped Tollywood in many ways. He made these comments during the media interaction of ‘Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati Side A’ Telugu dubbed version of Rakshit Shetty's Kannada film, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello which is being released by the People Media Factory on 22nd September.
