Tollywood is getting ready for another competitive Sankranthi next year. Multiple films have been lined up for Pongal release. Mahesh Babu's Guntur Kaaram, Ravi Teja's Eagle, Pan India Superhero film Hanuman, and Nagarjuna's Naa SaamiRanga have already announced their arrival for the Sankranthi season. While Prabhas's Kalki was also announced for Sankranthi, it is highly unlikely to happen. A similar kind of situation is brewing up in Kollywood as well.
Sivakarthikeyan's long-due project Ayalaan is eyeing for Sankranthi's release. This film was launched long back and delayed due to COVID. It has extensive CGI and hence it took a long time to complete. This is being made as a Sci-fi in R Ravikumar's direction. Rahul Preet is playing as female lead while AR Rahman is composing the music. The first-look poster where Siva Karthikeyan is seen with an alien raises curiosity among the audience.
Another film that has already announced its release for Sankranthi is Chiyaan Vikram's much-hyped Thangalaan. This Pa Ranjith directorial is about a tribe that lived in Kolar Gold Fields. The film is made as a periodical adventure film and the first glimpse has already made waves for its intense and natural filmmaking. Malvika Mohanan and Parvathi Thiruvothu are playing as female leads.
Now, as per Kollywood sources, the release of these two big films is almost confirmed. This year Kollywood witnessed the biggest clash between Vijay's Varisu / Vaarasudu and Ajith's Thunivu / Thegimpu. Now, next year Pongal will witness Vikram vs. Siva Karthikeyan with different films.
