Superstar Rajinikanth is back and how. His latest Jailer has turned into a boxoffice juggernaut and toppling records with each passing day. The film opened to mixed talk on its release date but audiences got connected to it and enjoying Rajini's swag elevated by Anirudh 's thumping background score. Director Nelson though came up with a mediocre story has succeeded in executing elevations perfectly for Rajinikanth.
Jailer has crossed Rs 400 Crores mark in 6 days and stands at Rs 410+ Crs. It has already crossed Ponniyin Selvan 2' 350 Crs and became top 4 grosser after Kamal Haasan's comeback blockbuster Vikram which is now standing with Rs 440 Crs lifetime collection. As there is no notable release in the coming days. Jailer will continue its glorious run in the boxoffice.
Jailer is expected to cross Vikram and Ponniyin Selvan 1's Rs 500 Crs too in the coming days and becomes only third Tamil film to breach Rs 500 Cr mark after 2.0 and PS 2. 2.0 is the Highest grossing Tamil film with Rs 670 Crs globally including all languages. Jailer has high chances to settle at Top 2 spot after 2.0 after its full run.
Jailer written and directed by Nelson Dilip Kumar while Sun Pictures bankrolled the project. Tamannaah, Ramya Krishna, Vinayakan, Sunil and Yogi Babu played key roles in the film while Mohan Lal and Shiva Raj Kumar played special cameos in the film. Anirudh has composed the music.
