Hyderabad, Aug 26:
While the State experienced widespread rains in the past four days, the Cyclone Warning Centre at Visakhapatnam on Wednesday predicted more rains accompanied by thundershowers at many places over North coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 24 hours.
According to the Met department sources, a low pressure area, which formed over the north-west Bay of Bengal across the north coastal Andhra Pradesh, augurs heavy rainfall in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts during the same period.
Consequently, rains in the upper reaches of the rivers Vamsadhara and Nagavali may bring in fresh inflows, which may threaten the low-lying areas in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts.
Paleru bridge, Prakasam Barage, Rentachintala, Paravathipuram in Vizianagaram and Ranasthalam in Srikaklam district recorded three cm rainfall each, the Met sources indicated.
