Hyderabad has two IPL titles through the erstwhile Deccan Chargers and the present outfit Sunrisers Hyderabad. They are a team that cannot be ignored because the mighty list of players they have on their roster and David Warner has taken over the captaincy from Kane Williamson for IPL 2020. Ever since the transition, the team has delivered consistent performances making into the playoffs five out of the seven seasons played.
The standout characteristic for the team is their perfect blend of experience and youth. In David Warner, Kane Williamson, Jonny Bairstow, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, they have players who have been playing international cricket for a very long time, and know the ropes as well as anyone in the game of cricket.
And on the other hand, they have a host of young players who could shine when given chances –Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma, Priyam Garg and Khaleel Ahmed to name a few. Priyam Garg along with Abhishek Sharma played a mature game and their partnership helped the team putting in a good total of 164 runs. Abdul Samad bowled well under immense pressure when player like MS Dhoni at the crease.
SRH was fully dependent on top order in previous tournaments. But, this time, middle order appears to be far strong with the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Priyam Garg and Abdul Samad adopting conditions and playing good knocks.
Coming to bowling, experienced players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan were the pillars. But, this season, Natarajan is emerging as best bowler for the team in death overs. He is consistently bowling Yorkers and is surprising batsmen with his variations. Khaleel Ahmed is also bowling exceptionally, so are the spinners like Abhishek etc.
Good thing is SRH is not depending on single player and it is playing as a team which is a biggest strength for any team. All in all, SRH appears to be most balanced team in this IPL season.
