The State Government has announced summer holidays for the Government, Government-aided, municipal and private schools from April 24.Normally, the schools in the State break for summer holidays after April 30.
According to sources, the decision to advance the holidays was taken by the Directorate of School Education in view of the unbearable heat in the State. Earlier, the directorate officials convened a meeting with Minister for Primary Education Manikya Vara Prasad to declare the holidays.
The schools will re-open on June 14, sources said. However, nearly 2.5 lakh Government School teachers are being drafted for the Census work, Rajiv Vidya Mission and Rashtriya Madhyamika Shiksha Abhiyan programmes.
