Sanjay Manjrekar is not a legendary cricketer like Kapil Dev, Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Saurav Ganguly etc. But, this veteran cricketer who played just decent number of matches and failed utterly to make his mark feels as if he is better player to all of them.
In his second innings as commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar criticized many cricketers, including the all time legend Sachin Tendulkar. Although he is continuing to assess players of current India Cricket Team, everybody took him lightly. But, our sir Ravindra Jadeja who is not the kind of player who just hits sixes in the ground and takes wickets has dared to attack Sanjay Manjrekar.
Recently, during India Vs Bangladesh match of ongoing World Cup 2019, Sanjay commented on Jadeja saying, “I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50 over cricket. In test match, he is a pure bowler. But in 50 over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner."
The furious Jadeja shot back saying, “Still i have played twice the number of matches you have played and i m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved.i have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea.@sanjaymanjrekar.”
Jadeja might be right in feeling that Manjrekar’s remarks were uncalled for. There is a reason for Manjrekar not being the most likeable commentator out there at the moment: most of the criticism against him is, perhaps, deserved.
In fact, Jadeja is getting full support in social media platform. The Twitterati advice Manjrekar who hasn’t achieved much as cricketer should not cross the line.
