The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the bail petition of B Ramalinga Raju, former chairman of Satyam Computer Services Ltd, who was charged for Rs 7,100 crore financial scam.

Raju, after spending more than a year in prison, moved the Supreme Court seeking bail petition on health grounds by saying the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had completed its investigation and had filed the charge sheet.

Apart from legal grounds, Raju in his bail petition has mentioned that he needs specialized medical help for his serious cardiac and other health problems.

He had pleaded that he was ready to abide by any condition imposed on him by the apex court. Besides, he had sought to assist his counsel in preparing for his defence in the case. However, the apex court rejected his bail appeal.

Raju approached the Supreme Court after his bail petition was turned down by the Andhra Pradesh High Court earlier on the ground that there was every likelihood of his tampering with the evidence.
