Anti-Corruption Bureau (Acb) officials on Thursday carried out a search and seizure operation on the properties owned by Koleti Gopala Krishna, Assembly Special Officer.
On complaints that the special officer has amassed assets disproportionate to the known sources of his income, the Acb officials conducted raids on Thursday.
Simultaneous searches were conducted at his house in Srinagar colony, Hyderabad and at his relatives house in Navabpalem of Nellore district.
During the search operations the , Acb sleuths seized documents pertaining to his 30 plots in four districts. They also uncovered Rs. 16 lakh in cash, 3-kg gold, and 20 kg of silver. The estimated amunt of all these docemnts alng with cash, gold and s ilver is Rs 18 crore.
According to Acb joint director J D Sabarwal, the properties of Gopala Krishna have spread across 32 areas in four districts. Apart from all the plots , Gopala Krishna owns 16 acres of land in Krishna district, the Acb official said.
Reacting to the Acb raids, Gopala Krishna said ``it was the handiwork of Assembly secretary, who was envious about my prosperity and complained to the Acb.’’
``I earned all these properties only though hard labour and not by illegal means, My sons earned all this wealth.’’ bemoaned Gopala Krishna.
